Lemon, Cordyceps & Bromelain, Explained

By Breathizen Wellness Desk · Updated September 2026

Alongside mullein and ginger, Breathizen lists three additional ingredients: Organic Lemon Extract, Organic Cordyceps Militaris and Bromelain Powder. Here is what the independent research shows for each.

Organic Lemon Extract

Lemon extract provides vitamin C, a well-established antioxidant. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements confirms vitamin C’s role in immune function and tissue repair. This is the most straightforward, well-evidenced ingredient in Breathizen’s formula — though the amount delivered within a 154 mg shared blend is likely modest.

Organic Cordyceps Militaris

An important distinction: Breathizen uses Cordyceps militaris, not sinensis. These are different species. Some third-party sellers incorrectly list sinensis, which is a factual error worth noting.

Research on Cordyceps militaris for exercise capacity and oxygen utilization is limited to five human studies with 321 total participants (2017–2024). Results are inconsistent. The brand’s own press release acknowledges these limitations.

Bromelain Powder

Bromelain is a pineapple-derived enzyme complex studied for supporting normal mucus balance and respiratory comfort. Studied doses typically range from 500–1,000 mg daily — well above what Breathizen’s 154 mg total blend can deliver per ingredient.

The pattern

All three ingredients have legitimate research backing at studied doses. The recurring question for Breathizen is the same: at 154 mg total across five ingredients, can any single one reach a meaningful threshold?
